In construction, you use different equipment and tools. Some are small, easy to store, and easy to transport. Others are big, heavy, and require other equipment to transport. One useful tool in transporting the second group is a block and tackle wooden pulley system.
The system simply lightens the load when you lift a heavy weight. It makes use of much greater lengths of ropes compared to a single pulley. The heavier the load is, the longer the rope should be. The system consists of two or more pulleys assembled to form blocks. One block is fixed while the other moves with the load.
Instead of buying a pricey block and tackle wooden pulley system, you can make one yourself. Select ropes with 15 mm diameter or greater if you have some really heavy loads to lift. Watch the video to know the step-by-step procedure. You will also get some great tips in drilling holes and using other construction tools.
