[Video] Going Back In History By Building Leonardo Da Vinci’s Cam Hammer.

This video shows how to build a Leonardo Da Vinci’s cam hammer. History is a great reference for building awesome tools. Despite the technology we have today, it’ll be awesome going back to when everything was still very basic and that there are no modern machines to aid man with his building.

A great example is an invention by the great Leonardo Da Vinci — the cam hammer. It was used to hammer sheet metal to be used in building ships and was even utilized during the World War I to make armored machines.

Other than for some history or engineering or such cl$#%&!@* why would I want to build some that would take this much time and be 99% useless?

I’ve built some pretty useless crap in my lifetime, but this goes well beyond that.

This would be a good design for a blacksmiths trip hammer, But the Cam would need to be much Oblong to effectively raise the hammer for a powerful strike, and built larger with a larger head, say 20lb, with a big motor and a foot pedal. but there are much more effective home made power hammers these days, such as the tire hammer.

It’s the understanding of the creative thinking, and engineering marvel this machine was when it was invented.
