way to waste good silver…worth much more than the coins actual value
PS a silver quarter is worth 8 bucks …..pre 62 you are probably cutting 7 bucks out of it and throwing it away
isn’t defacing US currency or coins against the law?
this has been around for as long as I can remember and that is a long time.
…
defacing money in any way is Illegal!
So is most the stuff the federal government does
with the price of silver going up, it seems a waste to turn 50% of the material into unusable dust
You can just buy a real sterling silver band without flaws for $10
You could buy it, but it wouldn’t have the meaning a “home one” has, to the person wearing it.
Have you ever dropped a penny and just left it.. You are defacing currency.
Exactly i thought is was .
Only if you get caught
There are several vids out there for this. Interesting. And some are way better than others.
it is federal offense to alter coins
i made some for my wedding rings. i wanted to make them instead of buying them. arrest me.
We did this back in the 60’s. But now there not made of the same thing today. And if you have an old silver quarter sell it and buy a ring.
I made a few of these in shop cl$#%&!@* back in the 70s
people saying this is illegal, please do your research! it is only unlawful to deface a coin to try to p$#%&!@* it off as another denomination. making a ring is NOT included in this. if you couldnt do this, then explain the machines you put a penny in at a carnival or place like that where it smashes it and stamps it with something else
no, it is not against the law
not even close to 20. pre 65 quarter is worth around 4.25 in circulated condition
only if you alter them to be worth more than what they are intended to. like, if you made a quarter look like a susan b anthony dollar, then its illegal. but you can make a coin out of them and its just fine
no, it is not illegal to do this
no, it is not. only if you are trying to make it look like another coin that is worth more
Time is money add the time
so is weed but then you go to colorado and federal law no longer applies
I saw this post and thought it should be.. “How to get arrested by inciting people to break a federal law”! LOL
THIS IS ILLEGAL IN THE USA—-YOU WILL GO TO JAIL FOR DEFACING OUR MONEY—-THIS IS FEDERAL LAW
read the law on defacing, the link is above…
I realy do not care what you do, but we do not need any more problems with the Secret Service.
pre65 coins have been pulled from circulation, and do not meet this criteria
Is that not breaking the law.
other than the fact that melting down money is Illegal lmao.
whoever says this is illegal then why isn’t Disneyland, six flags and any other theme park that offers that souvenir penny aren’t being hunted down by the government? cause it is perfectly legal they even have an explanation on most machines
Not that defacing US Currency is a crime or anything …
Thought it was ILLEGAL to deface U S currency!!!
It’s like we have all these laws, but they are never enforced. Why have them?
I’ve seen these videos all over the Internet for years. And people actually sell these. But never in trouble.
Times we live in.

Oooh! He broke the law! I’m sure the Federal government will be tracking him down now.
