A baseboard is a vinyl or wooden board that is used to cover the lowest portion of the wall where it meets the floor. It’s also called skirting board, base molding, or floor molding. The purpose of the baseboard is to cover uneven edges of the flooring that is next to the wall.
The baseboard can also be decorative and can add aesthetic value to any room when properly applied. There are different designs available and it can be colored to compliment the color motif of the wall and flooring where it will be affixed. The design and color combinations are practically unlimited.
The baseboard can be screwed, nailed or glued to the wall. Although installing a baseboard is an easy task, it’s also easy to screw it up if you don’t know what you’re doing. In this DIY video, the author will show you the basic steps in installing a baseboard.
