A mortise and tenon joint is a variation of joint in which two pieces of wood or other material is connected. The mortise is the piece with a hole in it, and the tenon is the piece with an embossed piece attached to it (which is called the tongue). The embossed piece is the one that will go through the hole of the mortise. It is one of the most common techniques used by woodworkers to join two pieces of wood together. It is simple in form but strong in capacity.
There are many variations to this type of joint. However, the basic mortise and tenon joint will be demonstrated in this video. The hole on the mortise will be created using a drill press. It is not a common method and can be difficult for beginners.
The wooden blocks will be marked in which the mortise hold and tenon tongue will be joint together. The mortise will be drill pressed until the hole is enough for the tenon to be inserted. Watch the video to see the whole process!
