DIY Guide – Powder Coating At Home.

Many manufacturers often put the description “powder-coated” when they promote their newest products. Although it is generally presented as something positive, not a lot of people truly understand why that is so.

Powder coating is generally tougher and more resistant to chipping and corrosion than solvent-based coatings. This makes it the perfect coating for parts that are constantly subjected to harsh environments, such as brake backing plates.

Fortunately, powder coating is something that can be done at home. You will need a powder coating kit comprised of a spray gun, an inline filter, an electric transformer, a ground clip cable, scatter tips, powder cups, and a foot switch. You will also need an electric oven that is not used for the kitchen, a metal cleaner, and powder paintings in your chosen colors. The rest of the process, you can learn by following the guide video.
