Sharpening a drill bit can be a difficult process when you do it by hand. Fortunately, there are now machines that make the task more efficient and effective. However, these machines can be very expensive and not really necessary. There are other methods that you can do to sharpen your dull and useless drill bit, make it usable and practically brand-new again.
In this video, you will learn how to sharpen a drill bit using a grinder. The drill bit will be placed in front of the grinder while it is turning. At a safe angle of approximately 30 degrees, the drill bit will be lightly pressed against the grinder wheel. This movement sharpens the bit.
Since the bit has two cutting edges, they need to be checked from time to time if they are equal in length and have the same angle; otherwise, the bit won’t drill holes properly and symmetrically.
