If you’re going to cut a miter joint on a round pipe, making a template with accurate measurements beforehand will save you time and effort, including the trial and error process that you may have to undergo if you made the wrong calculations.
Well, it’s true that there are computer programs out there that can lay out the template for you in an instant as you punch in the measurements. But learning how to make the template on your own is not totally pointless. Once you learn the basics, you can apply its principles to any project with mitered corners.
