DIY Sprinkler Maintenance: How To Get Your Pipes Winter-Ready.

Many people don’t realize that winterizing their irrigation system (a.k.a. sprinkler system) is so important until there are already some damages — burst pipes, damaged backflow assemblies, flooded lawns, etc.

The thing with this lovely season of the year is that it can freeze the ground to a certain depth after covering it in snow/ice, causing any water that’s left inside the pipes underneath to freeze as well. This could result in such damages as stated previously, with burst pipes being the most common.

Winterizing the sprinkler system simply means getting all the water out of the pipes before the above happens. You can hire a lawn care company to do this for you or you can do it yourself for a fraction of the cost. If you opt for the latter, however, you must watch this video first!
